When we use adjectives to compare things, some endings of short words change to er.
We use comparative adjectives to talk about two (2) nouns. If one noun is more, we use a comparative adjective.
Example:
The interest rate for Bank of Washington is low.
The interest rate for Bank of Seattle is lower.

high | higher | The interest rate at my bank is higher than your bank. |
low | lower | Their interest rate is lower than mine. |
long | longer | This credit card is good. It has a longer grace period than my last credit card. |
short | shorter | This credit card is bad. It has a shorter grace period than most. |
