Module 7 is preparing you for the research and APA citation elements of our third essay. While Essay 3 is a persuasive essay, not a standard research essay, you will need to use reliable sources to back up your position. And you MUST cite those sources. We use APA format here at CPTC. APA is the citation format most technical programs prefer. For this class, do NOT use MLA citation format.

Chapter 15 with an Extra Credit Opportunity

You really MUST read chapter 15 for the research information.

However, we will be discussing research and citation in class extensively. So, if you want to, you can submit a 4C's Response for EXTRA CREDIT. Of course, you do not have to create any written response to Chapter 15 if you don't want to.

Research Exercises 1, 2, 3

So, I have included a PREVIEW of Essay 3 - Persuasion. I hope you will look at that preview and think about a topic you would like to explore. You may as well make this research time and exercises helpful for that essay.

The three research exercise assignments may look a little different than others we've had in the past. I have included materials to study before you do the work directly on the assignment page. At the bottom, I have also included an example response to help you.

The due date for Research Exercises 1, 2, and 3 is Wednesday, Nov. 23. I set this date so that you would do research and become familiar with APA citation requirements BEFORE you had to write our Persuasion/Research essay. However, I know work loads vary, and you are working on multiple assignments from multiple classes, so I did give an extended grace period slightly. Research Exercises 1, 2, and 3 will close on Wednesday, Nov. 30.

The advantage of submitting Research Exercises 1, 2, and 3 earlier rather than later is that you will be able to apply feedback and corrections to your final for the third essay.
