CLOVER PARK TECH COLLEGE ACCEPTABLE COMPUTER USE GUIDELINES

The computer resources are provided to further your education. Any other use of the equipment, software, networks, Internet, etc. is prohibited. 

Hardware and Software Policies

  • Do NOT alter the system control files (e.g., autoexec.bat, config.sys, win.ini, etc.).
  • Do NOT copy college-owned software from the hard drive or load/download software onto the computer. Only software loaded by instructors or MIS/IT may be used. It is a criminal offense to copy any software that is protected by copyright; all copyright laws are enforced. No illegally copied software may be used on CPTC computers.
  • No computerized games are allowed during school hours, unless authorized.
  • Do NOT create and/or transmit files that violate local, state, or federal laws.
  • Save files only to your  personal jump/thumb drive or cloud storage. Unauthorized or personal files found anywhere else will be erased. Users are required to provide their own USB/jump drives.

Internet Policies

  • The Internet is provided to support program activities and classroom assignments. Any other use is inappropriate.
  • Proper netiquette must be used at all times.
  • Do NOT download any files without permission from your instructor. Files used in your studies in your Canvas class site may be downloaded.
  • The Internet may NOT be used for any commercial purposes or for any application that could be deemed illegal, abusive, or offensive.
  • Utilize the network efficiently (e.g., no chat rooms, streaming, transmission of non-school documents, unauthorized e-mail).

 Students are expected to:

  • Respect each other, talk with no cussing or foul language to one another, honor Canvas messages, the lab/classroom equipment including computers, peripherals, desks, chairs, etc., Show respect with a calm manner to the instructor and all class mates - Be Professional and Decent in Dress/Attire!

 Students may not:

  • Consume food or drink near the computers. Drinks must have a spill proof lid.
  • Log into or participate in chat rooms.
  • Use school computers to play electronic games, surf the Internet, or use external email services during class hours without the instructor’s approval.
  • Participate in Websites or communications where the content is deemed by the faculty to be offensive, obscene, or otherwise inappropriate for an educational setting - No Porn Sites, Weapon Sites, Drug Sites, especially Child Pornography Sites!
  • Download or install programs or files without prior instructor approval. This includes screen savers and any software not provided by the college.
  • Delete or copy any software from the hard drive.

 If you have any questions whether you are in violation of any of the above rules, please see the instructor immediately.

 If you are uncertain about a particular activity/action, check with your instructor before doing it.

STUDENT AGREEMENT FOR ACCEPTABLE COMPUTER USE FOR CPTC AND THE BUSINESS SUPPORT SERVICES CLASSES

You agree that you have received, read, and  understand the policies as noted above, the policies referred to elsewhere in this document, and the policies in the student handbook. You agree that you will abide by and honor these policies, and that failure to do so will result in withdrawal of use privileges or other action consistent with College policies.
