Where do we meet for class?

This is a meet online in ZOOM class. I will not be on campus in the classroom during this ZOOM session. You will need to have access to a computer with an internet connection.

NOTE: You may make an appointment to reserve a computer with the Teaching and Learning Center. Appointments are now required to get on the list for a laptop. Please contact the Student Technology Coordinator to make an appointment. I will review course information and take questions during the online sessions. We will meet online every Thursday morning at 9-11 AM. I will post a video in each module following the ZOOM presentation each week. We are actively engaged online and discuss and discover business practices commonly applied within our industry.

Do we need to buy the book?

Yes, each week there will be a short quiz based on key information from the text. These quizzes will include professional terminology and test your understanding of common practices reviewed in the book.

I still own my copy from my education. This is the interior design bible for business practices. It is worth the investment and will be useful throughout your career. I believe the TLC has one on reserve for use at the Teaching and Learning Center.

Do I have to attend the lectures if you are recording them?

Yes, the information presented during the class lectures allow students to engage with the material. When we are reviewing the business practices of our industry, there are so many questions you will have and you need to be there to ask them. There is a chat if you are uncomfortable speaking in ZOOM. We will regularly review assignments so that students can see what their classmates are doing and learn from each other too.

This is the first time I have taken an online course, how do I communicate with the instructor?

During the class lecture you may raise your hand to ask a question or type a question in the chat box in ZOOM. At the end of each class session, I will remain online for those with additional questions for me. After students have left the class, I can meet individually with any interested students. This type of learning is personalized to support you. I am also available to schedule in-person meetings or ZOOM meetings at our convenience.
