A thorough study of the development, identification, and abnormalities associated with blood cells and hemostasis. Hematologic principles include the formation of blood cells and the identification of normal and abnormal blood cells as they correlate to disease. Hemostasis is the study of the clotting and fibrinolytic mechanisms of the blood. The principles and performance of routine laboratory procedures and basic instrumentation to diagnose and monitor diseases are included.
