Course Details

This course will introduce basic electronics theory along with understanding of both direct and alternating current. The fundamentals of Ohms and Kirchhoff’s laws will be used to understand circuit measurements and calculations along with using measurement instruments for circuit component values.

Contact & Communication Plan

In-person communication will be practiced each day we attend class at the schoolhouse. The days when class is distance learned, we will use; Canvas, Email, Zoom and possibly Microsoft teams. Students will be expected to check their email daily to ensure they are updated on current operations.

  1. Describe alternating current and its interaction within simple circuits.
  2. Give examples of direct current and its characteristics.
  3. Summarize fundamental electronic principles. 
  4. Apply metric prefixes and scientific notation to distinguish measurements in given circuit theory.

This course will require general knowledge of common office equipment and required tooling not to exceed the scope of a 2 quarter program.

Class Participation

Class participation for Lab assignments and written assignments will be 15 percent of a students grade. Attendance will be another 15 percent of a students grade. Lab/written assignments combined with attendance will make up 30 percent of a students grade. Attendance will be taken each day of class, whether online or in-person.

Graded Coursework

Students can expect 1 or more practical, verbal or written assignments each week accompanied by 1 quiz each Friday to capstone the previous weeks teachings. a mid-term test will be given at the end of week 7. The quarter final will be given the last week of class. All quizzes/tests will combine to make up 70 percent of a students grade.
