 Overview

You will review a comprehensive checklist with your dean, covering essential topics such as the course syllabus, student conduct, administrative processes, campus resources, and technology requirements. This ensures you are well-oriented to their responsibilities and available support at the college.

 

 
 

 Read

Hand out and go over:

  • Course syllabus

  • Required text(s)

  • CPTC Cares information

  • Student Code of Conduct pamphlet

  • Student Concern process and what departments have responsibility over different kinds of complaints.

  • Academic Calendar

  • Organization Chart and Key Staff

  • Start/End of Quarter Checklist

Forms and processes:

  • Keys

  • Email address and protocols

  • Campus technology requirements.

    • Office 365. The college utilizes Microsoft Office 365 as a communication (email, Teams) and collaboration (Sharepoint) platform. This platform can be accessed from the college campus and from home.

    • Printer Download Printer Set-Up
  • Sign up for CPTCWarn Links to an external site.. CPTC’s emergency notification system. If we are closed due to inclement weather, or other emergencies – this is the way faculty, staff and students will be notified.

      • Take some time to look around – a lot of good information here.

  • Many important documents and processes are found in the ctcLink

      • Time leave request

      • Payroll information

      • Class roster

      • Upload grades

  • Professional Development Tracking  2024-2025  Canvas Course.  
      • This is where you will submit your Professional Development plan, track your initial certification requirements, and track your professional development units to possibly receive an increment. You will be automatically added as a student to this course. If you do not see the course in your Canvas, please contact the Teaching and Learning Center (tlc@cptc.edu).

Instruction:

  • Online instruction
      • Required CANVAS training before an instructor can use the LMS and teach any portion of a class or program on-line.
      • In addition to student instruction, every quarter you be responsible for doing the following (this is not an exhaustive list, other duties may be required):
      • Identify and order (through IPA) supplies. Order textbooks through the CPTC bookstore (usually 2nd or 3rd week); enough for next quarter’s students.
      • Review and correct as needed the program and course descriptions that will be published.*
      • Maintain program accreditation (if applicable) 
  • Student behavior and feedback. There are supports and resources available.
