Course Details
This course will introduce important discreet circuit components and diagnostic techniques. The items in this course are fundamental to many circuits. Examples of the components covered in this course are: resistors, Inductors, capacitors, transformers and switches.
Contact & Communication Plan
In-person communication will be practiced each day we attend class at the schoolhouse. The days when class is distance learned, we will use; Canvas, Email, Zoom and possibly Microsoft teams. Students will be expected to check their email daily to ensure they are updated on current operations.

- Outline essential circuit component function and characteristics.
- Indicate electrical component functionalities including proper and improper circuit installation.
- Use formulas to calculate component values within circuits.
- Interpret component faults and formulate circuit repairs.

Technology
This course will require general knowledge of common office equipment and required tooling not to exceed the scope of a 2 quarter program.
Class Participation and Attendance
Students will be present Daily (online for Monday and Friday) Monday through Friday from 0700 through 1300, attendance will be 20% of your overall grade. Labs/projects will be 20% of your overall grade. Class participation (assignments and labs) and attendance combined will make up 40% of your overall grade.
Graded Coursework
Students can expect assignments and labs throughout the class week. Students will attempt a weekly quiz to take place each Friday to capstone the weeks teachings. The quarter final will be given the last week of class. All quizzes/tests will combine to make up 60% of a students grade. Your grade will be 60% written quizzes/tests and 40% for attendance and lab participation/assignments to make up 100%
Late Work
Late assignments or make up tests will be discussed on a case by case basis, see instructor for accommodation.

College Closure and Class Cancellation
Should the CPTC campus close for weather or other extenuating circumstance, you should not come to campus. If class is cancelled for some other necessary reason, you will be notified via email and/or canvas by your instructor personally, or CPTC leadership.
